Moravian Drops Landmark Series Opener to Susquehanna
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University baseball team dropped a 9-2 decision to visiting Susquehanna University in the opening game of a Landmark Conference series at Gillespie Field Friday afternoon.

How It Happened
- The River Hawks scored five runs in the top of the first inning and added a run in the top of the second for a 6-0 lead
- The Greyhounds got onto the scoreboard with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Graduate student catcher Connor Wengryn reached on an error with two outs, and he raced around the bases on a throwing error on a ball hit by sophomore third baseman Ryan Hoffman
- Susquehanna pushed a pair of runs home in the top of the sixth and one in the top of the ninth for a 9-1 edge
- The Blue & Grey scored their other run in the bottom of the ninth inning. Wengryn led off with a double and eventually touched the plate on a double play with the bases loaded
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian had eight hits with Wengryn having one hit, a double and scoring twice
- Graduate student designated hitter Cole Cherkas and freshman third baseman Troy Rabosky had doubles for their hits while freshman center fielder Luke Keitsock, freshman shortstop David Vozzo, senior second baseman Nick Henry, freshman pinch hitter Ronnie Werkheiser and sophomore right fielder Domenic Venini all hit singles
- Hoffman added an RBI
- Senior Matt Snyder started on the mound for the Blue & Grey and tossed five innings while sophomore Andrew Benvenuto had one strikeout in three innings of action. Senior Chris Medei pitched the final inning with one strikeout
