Hounds Sweep Susquehanna to Close Out the 2025 Regular Season
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University baseball squad swept visiting Susquehanna University, 10-3 and 8-4, at Gillespie Field Saturday afternoon in a Landmark Conference doubleheader to close out the 2025 season.

How It Happened – Game #1
- The Greyhounds jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning in the opener. Freshman center fielder Luke Keitsock drew a leadoff walk before graduate student designated hitter Cole Cherkas launched a two-run homer to right field as he tied the Moravian single season record with his ninth home run of the season and the 17th of his career
- The River Hawks scored three times in the top of the third to take a 3-2 edge
- The Blue & Grey answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame to move back ahead 5-3. Freshman shortstop David Vozzo walked with one out while senior right fielder Nick Henry reached on a fielder's choice. Graduate student catcher Connor Wengryn connected on an RBI double down the right field line as Vozzo raced home. Graduate student second baseman Justin Otero then ripped a two-RBI double off the fence in left field to chase Henry and Wengryn home. The hit for Otero was the 100th of his collegiate career with six hits at Moravian and 94 in his undergraduate career at Saint Elizabeth University
- The Hounds tacked on a run in the bottom of the fifth for a 6-3 advantage. Henry began the frame with a single, and he raced around the bases on an RBI double by sophomore first baseman Ryan Hoffman
- Moravian finished off the scoring with a four-run seventh inning. Wengryn started off with a single while Otero walked, and graduate student left fielder David Olsakowski was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Keitsock ripped a two-RBI single to right field to bring home Wengryn and Otero. Cherkas was intentionally walked to load the bases again before freshman third baseman Troy Rabosky was hit by a pitch to push Olsakowski home. Vozzo finished off the inning with an RBI sacrifice fly to score Keitsock
- Graduate student Aaron Flyte earned his second win of the season in his last collegiate start. Flyte registered four strikeouts in 7.1 innings while throwing 123 pitches. Sophomore Wes Griffith pitched the final 1.2 innings with a strikeout
How It Happened – Game #2
- Susquehanna opened the second game with a run in the top of the first inning
- The Greyhounds countered with two runs in the bottom of the frame for a 2-1 edge. Cherkas drew a one-out walk before Rabosky singled. Vozzo connected on a two-RBI double to score Cherkas and Rabosky
- Moravian added a run in the bottom of the second for a 3-1 lead. Henry drew a leadoff walk, stole second and scored on an RBI groundout Olsakowski
- The River Hawks moved back in front with four runs in the top of the third for a 4-3 advantage
- The Hounds answered with two runs in the bottom half of the third to move back on top 5-4. Rabosky led off with a single and would move to second on a wild pitch before stealing third. Wengryn hit an RBI triple down the right field line to score Rabosky while Henry had an RBI double to bring in Wengryn
- The Blue & Grey scored twice in the bottom of the fourth to stretch the advantage to 7-4. Olsakowski walked and stole second base. Cherkas connected on a one-out RBI double to right center as Olsakowski ran home. Rabosky moved Cherkas to third with a single before Vozzo connected on an RBI sacrifice fly to score Cherkas
- Moravian finished off the scoring with a run in the fifth inning. Wengryn was hit by a pitch, and Henry reached on an error. After a wild pitch moved up the runners, graduate student second baseman Jack Tone hit an RBI groundout to chase Wengryn across the plate
- Freshman Andrew Sagrestano recorded his second win of the season on the hill with four strikeouts in five innings of work. Freshman EJ Youngling and Cam Elicier both tossed one inning with Youngling registering a strikeout while Griffith pitched the final two innings with one strikeout
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian had 21 hits on the day with Keitsock going 3-for-6 with a double two runs, two RBIs and four walks
- Cherkas collected three hits with three RBIs, three runs, a homer and a pair of doubles while Rabosky added three hits, two runs and an RBI
- Wengryn posted three hits, four runs, two RBIs, a double and a triple while Henry contributed three hits, three runs, an RBI and a double
- Hoffman recorded three hits with an RBI and a double while Vozzo had one hit, a double, a run and four RBIs
- Otero contributed a hit, a run, a double and two RBIs while Olsakowski added one hit, two runs and an RBI
- Tone posted one RBI
- The Hounds finish the season with school records of 32 home runs and 255 walks
