Greyhounds Sweep Lebanon Valley in Non-Conference Action
ANNVILLE, Pa. --- The Moravian University softball team swept host Lebanon Valley College, 3-1 and 12-0 in six innings, in a non-conference doubleheader Thursday.

How It Happened – Game #1
- The Flying Dutchmen took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning
- The Greyhounds answered with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth to move ahead 2-1. Senior third baseman Sydney Andrews led off with a single, and she raced home from second base when senior catcher Marcie Silberman reached on a dropped fly ball in the outfield. Freshman designated player Shauna McNamee ripped an RBI single to chase junior pinch runner Cassandra Farrell with the go-ahead run
- The Blue & Grey added a run in the top of the sixth when junior right fielder Kyra Holtje led off with a solo home run to left field, her first homer of the season and fifth of her career
- Senior Sarah DeStefano made the start in the circle and recorded two strikeouts in the complete game victory
How It Happened – Game #2
- The Hounds scored twice in the top of the third inning for a 2-0 advantage. Freshman left fielder Natalie Chloros led off with a single, and she moved into scoring position on a single from junior second baseman Emma Grace Pachkowski. After an out, Andrews hit an RBI single to score Chloros while Pachkowski raced home on an RBI double from Holtje
- Moravian extended the edge to 3-0 in the top of the fifth inning. Junior center fielder Shayla Morgan drew a lead-off walk and eventually scored on an RBI single by Silberman
- The Greyhounds scored nine times in the top of the sixth to make it 12-0. McNamee walked to start the frame before Farrell came in to pinch run. Farrell stole second base and raced home on an RBI single by Chloros while Pachkowski knocked out a hit. Andrews reached on an error that allowed Chloros to touch the plate while Holtje chased in Pachkowski with an RBI single. Silberman would reach on a fielder's choice to load the bases before DeStefano connected on a two-out, two-RBI single as Andrews and Holtje scored. McNamee reentered the contest and walked to load the bases, and Chloros followed with a grand slam to left field to clear the bases and finish off the scoring in the contest. The homer was the first of Chloros' collegiate career
- Holtje tossed a two-hit shutout in the second game with two strikeouts while facing just 22 batters in six innings
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian collected 16 hits on the afternoon with Chloros going 3-for-6 with three runs, five RBIs and a home run
- Holtje was 3-for-5 with two runs, three RBIs and a homer while DeStefano went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs
- Andrews registered two hits, two runs and an RBI while Pachkowski added a pair of hits and two runs
- Morgan and Silberman each posted one hit and scored once with Silberman contributing an RBI
- McNamee had a hit and an RBI while senior pinch hitter Madison Berning knocked out a hit in her only plate appearance
- Farrell scored twice on the day while sophomore Madelin Cooper touched the plate once
