Greyhounds Sweep Drew in Key Landmark Conference Doubleheader
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University softball team swept Drew University, 4-0 and 8-2, in a Landmark Conference doubleheader at Blue & Grey Field Tuesday.

How It Happened – Game #1
- The Greyhounds jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Senior third baseman Sydney Andrews reached on an error before junior designated player Kyra Holtje doubled and senior catcher Marcie Silberman walked to load the bases. Senior pitcher Sarah DeStefano hit an RBI infield single off the pitcher's glove to score Andrews while sophomore first baseman Kaley Hoffman flared a single down the right field line as Holtje raced home. Senior right fielder Madison Berning drew a walk to push Silberman across the plate
- The Blue & Grey added a run in the bottom of the fourth frame for a 4-0 edge. Freshman left fielder Natalie Chloros led off with a single and scored on an RBI sacrifice fly from Silberman
- DeStefano started in the circle and scattered four hits while striking out seven batters for the shutout
How It Happened – Game #2
- The Hounds took another first inning lead in the second game with six runs. Chloros drew a leadoff walk before a bunt single from Andrews put down a bunt single. Holtje reached on a fielder's choice while Silberman walked to load the bases. After freshman Nicole Giglio came into pinch run for Silberman, DeStefano connected on a sinking line-drive, two-RBI single to right field as Andrews and Holtje scored. Hoffman ripped an RBI single to right as Giglio while sophomore catcher Sydney Scarpato connected on a three-run homer to left field, her first career home run
- Moravian added a run in the bottom of the third for a 7-0 advantage. Senior shortstop Samantha Derickson had a leadoff single before scoring on a bases loaded pinch hit RBI sacrifice fly from sophomore Amelia Noll
- The Rangers got onto the scoreboard with a run in the top of the fifth, and Drew scored another run in the top of the sixth to cut the score to 7-2
- The Greyhounds scored the final run in the bottom of the sixth. Andrews led off with a single while Holtje and Derickson also singled to load the bases before DeStefano ripped an RBI single up the middle to push Andrews home
- Holtje made the start in the circle for the nightcap, and she had five strikeouts in the complete game win
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian collected 20 hits in the two contests with Andrews going 4-for-8 with three runs and a triple
- Hoffman was 4-for-6 with a run and two RBIs while DeStefano had a 3-for-7 day with four RBIs and a run
- Derickson posted a 3-for-6 afternoon with a run while Scarpato was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, a run and her homer
- Holtje and Chloros were both 2-for-6 with Holtje adding two runs and a double and Chloros scoring once
- Silberman registered an RBI and a run while Berning and Noll each contributed an RBI and Giglio scored once
