Moravian Sweeps FDU-Florham in Final Non-Conference Doubleheader of 2026
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University softball squad swept visiting FDU-Florham, 5-3 and 6-0, at Blue & Grey Field Thursday afternoon as the Hounds closed out their non-conference slate for the 2026 season.

How It Happened – Game #1
- The Greyhounds opened the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the second inning. Senior shortstop Samantha Derickson led off with a double, and she scored on an RBI double from sophomore designated player Sydney Scarpato. Junior centerfielder Shayla Morgan and freshman left field Natalie Chloros drew walks to load the bases before senior third baseman Sydney Andrews ripped a two-RBI single to send Scarpato and Morgan across the plate
- The Blue & Grey added a run in the bottom of the fourth to make it 4-0. Sophomore first baseman Kaley Hoffman hit a doubled and scored on an RBI sacrifice fly by Morgan in foul territory
- The Devils got on the scoreboard with a run in the top of the fifth inning to cut the score to 4-1
- Moravian pushed a run home in the bottom of the sixth to stretch the edge to 5-1. Derickson led off with a single before freshman Nicole Giglio came into pinch run. The Hounds loaded the bases then Morgan hit another RBI sacrifice fly to score Giglio
- FDU-Florham scored twice in the top of the seventh and had the tying run at second base when the Greyhounds recorded the final out
- DeStefano made the start in the circle, and she posted four strikeouts in six-plus innings for her 11th win of the season. Senior Natalie Otto came on to earn her second save of the season with a strikeout in an inning of action
How It Happened – Game #2
- The Greyhounds took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning to start the scoring in the second contest. Derickson led off the inning with a triple off the top of the fence, and she scored on an RBI infield single off Hoffman's bat. Chloros connected on an RBI single to bring in Hoffman while Andrews hit an RBI double of the wall in center field to chase Chloros home
- Moravian doubled the advantage to 6-0 with three more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Morgan singled with one out and stole second before racing home on an RBI single from Chloros. Andrews reached on a fielder's choice and moved to third on a wild pitch before junior pitcher Kyra Holtje ripped an RBI triple. A throwing error on the play allowed Holtje to race home
- Holtje tossed a complete game shutout for Moravian as she allowed just one hit and a pair of walks to go with six strikeouts
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian collected 15 hits with Andrews going 4-for-7 with a run, three RBIs and a pair of doubles
- Derickson was 3-for-6 with two runs, a double and a triple while Scarpato went 2-for-3 with a run, a double and an RBI
- Chloros registered two hits with a run and two RBIs while Hoffman added two hits, two runs, a double and an RBI
- Morgan was 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs while Holtje recorded a hit, a run, an RBI and a triple
- Giglio crossed the plate once
