BETHLEHEM, Pa. – This week's Summer Spotlight series is with men's soccer student-athlete Max Teneza. Max is completing a summer internship with Captrust Financial Partners in Allentown.
Describe your day-to-day responsibilities in this position.
- I participate in client research by going through a database of companies and marking them based on their potential to become a new client. I review financial documents and transfer the information into a database making sure everything is accurate. I also sit in on and participate in various client meetings throughout the day.
What made this experience appealing to you?
- This experience was appealing because the company itself is very well respected; to gain experience with a great firm was very important to me. The employees are fun to be around and offer great mentorship which has created a great environment to work in.
How does this experience relate to your career or life aspirations? What are you looking to personally get out of it?
- I am looking to work in a Finance-related field outside of college. With this opportunity, I'm looking to gain as much knowledge as possible in different fields so I can figure out the path I would like to pursue for my future career.
How has your athletics career prepared you for this role?
- Athletics have played a major part in helping me be prepared for this role through teaching me how to work with a team and manage all my tasks, when under more time pressures. My fellow interns have virtually become a new set of teammates, and we work together to manage everything.
What are you looking forward to for this upcoming year for your sport?
- I am looking forward to stepping into a leadership role within the team as an upperclassman. We have a very young, yet experienced, squad so I'm excited to see what big things we can accomplish this season.
Is there anything else you are looking forward to this summer outside of this experience?
- I am excited to prepare for the upcoming season while also enjoying some time-off from my sport. The off-season is always a great time to prepare without the stress that comes from the intense game and practice schedule.
